NEW YORK (WHEC) — The effort to make sure every New Yorker gets counted in this year's census.

The state's campaign to make sure New York gets the federal funding and representation it deserves kicked off with conferences this week.

They were held in Rochester, Buffalo, Syracuse and Long Island.

People assigned to lead the census in those communities held meetings focused on the best use of state strategies to reach at-risk and hard-to-count communities.
