Richard has given up his rights to all 85 dogs, and as of Tuesday, Jane has relinquished her rights to 80 of the dogs. These dogs are now up adoption.

The Ontario County District Attorney's Office says the remaining five dogs have not been returned and continue to be the subject of ongoing litigation.

The five dogs will continue to be cared for by the Humane Society until they obtain legal custody.

Deputies responded to the pair's home on Lawyer Road after receiving a complaint about dogs running in the road back in July. The dogs appeared to be flea-ridden with matted hair.

According to the Messenger Post, there are more than 200 applications from people wanting to adopt the dogs.
