GRAND ISLAND, N.Y. (WHEC) — Filming for "A Quiet Place 2" will close one of the Grand Island bridges to traffic on Sunday.

The film has been shooting in Western New York for a few months now. Actor, writer, and director John Krasinski visited the Candy Apple Cafe in Akron in May. He is directing the film.

The northbound South Grand Island Bridge will be closed Sunday, Aug.25, from midnight until 1 p.m. to accommodate the cast and crew. All traffic traveling northbound on the Niagara section of the Thruway entering onto the island will be diverted to a single lane of the southbound South bridge during that time.

The Thruway Authority tells WGRZ in Buffalo that drivers should expect severe delays in the area, especially after 9 a.m. Sunday, and are advised to find alternate routes.

New York State Police will be periodically slowing and stopping traffic as well.

The original sci-fi horror movie, focused on a family trying to survive in a post-apocalyptic America, was filmed in Utica.
