ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — Rochester Mayor Lovely Warren announced her endorsement for Adam Bello in his candidacy for Monroe County Executive Saturday morning.
“Like our country, our county needs new leadership,” Warren said. “Leadership that will restore an era of partnership between our city and our county. An era that was known as the Morin/Ryan days. An era when county leaders understood that the city and the county’s futures are shared and that we could only rise together as One Community.”
Bello, a Democrat, is challenging Republican County Executive Cheryl Dinolfo who was elected in 2015.
The Dinolfo campaign was not surprised about the announcement.
In a statement this afternoon, Dinolfo's campaign spokeswoman Bridget Harvey said,
“It’s campaign season, so it’s no surprise that politicians are endorsing politicians. The only endorsement that matters is the one Monroe County voters will make, and County Executive Dinolfo looks forward to earning their strong support once again.”
Warren was introduced at the event by fellow Democrat Congressman Joe Morelle, who also announced his support for Bello.
"We need Adam Bello alongside us as our next County Executive to bring much-needed change to our county government and continue the progress we are making to uplift families and revitalize our neighborhoods. I am proud to support him and encourage everyone to join me in voting for Adam Bello for County Executive.” Morelle said.
