ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — On this week's Rochester in Focus, Lynette Adams takes a look at Clean Slate NY.
The bill, which is now in committee in the state Senate and Assembly, would create a two-step process to automatically seal and later expunge some criminal records once a person has served his or her prison sentence.
It builds off of the automatic expungement provisions in the Marijuana Regulation and Taxation Act.
We talk with state Assemblyman Demond Meeks (D-137) and Matthew Petitte, a project director with the Center for Community Alternatives.
