Man pleads guilty in deaths of Sodus mother, toddler

LYONS, N.Y. (WHEC) — The man accused of killing his girlfriend and her son in Wayne County pleaded guilty to manslaughter charges Wednesday.

Reyes pleaded guilty to two counts of first-degree manslaughter in the deaths Selena Hidalgo-Calderon and her 14-month-old son, Owen. The two disappeared from a farm off Joy Road in Sodus in May 2018. Selena's body was found a week later in the woods near the farm a week later. Owen's remains were found in the same area in October.

In a news conference Thursday, Wayne County District Attorney Michael Calarco said Reyes acknowledged and admitted to causing their deaths but provided no motive or additional details.

Reyes will be sentenced to 20 years in prison and 5 years of post-release supervision. As part of the deal, he agreed to waive his right to appeal.
