Like many non-profit organizations in our area, the American Cancer Society has had to cancel or postpone in-person fundraising events and programming as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
One of those events is their highly anticipated annual Relay For Life fundraiser, which will take place online this year.
News10NBC's Emily Putnam talked with Senior Manager of Community Development Chris Falzarano on Zoom this week about how the pandemic has impacted the American Cancer Society's operations and fundraising efforts, and their virtual plans for Relay For Life this year.
Falzarano stresses that while events can be postponed or canceled, cancer cannot. The team at the American Cancer Society has continued to serve people with cancer throughout the crisis and now community support is more important than ever.
