NEW YORK, N.Y. (WHEC) — The American Lung Association calls Governor Andrew Cuomo's action to ban the sale of flavored e-cigarettes insufficient Sunday morning.

The American Lung Association says Cuomo's attempt to ban the sale of fruit and candy-flavored e-cigarettes did not apply to menthol flavor, which is widely used and favored by high school students.

“The Governor had the opportunity to take decisive action, but instead left menthol e-cigarettes on the marketplace. While today’s announcement was well-intentioned, it will drive our youth to use menthol flavored products in even greater numbers" said the American Lung Association.

The American Lung Association says they will continue to work towards a ban on all flavored tobacco products including e-cigarettes.
