GREECE, N.Y. (WHEC) -- Volunteers from the local chapter of the American Red Cross helped load sandbags and distributed flood clean-up kits to shoreline homes and cottages on Saturday morning.

A Red Cross clean up kit consists of bleach, sponges, trash bags, and scrubbers.

Amin Choukairi, a Red Cross program manager for disaster assessment, said the kits are intended to provide "moral support" for the property owners whose real fight is to pump water and keep dry.

Choukairi said that residents appreciated the kits and gave credit to the hard work of the volunteers, "the bulk of the Red Cross workforce."
