Attempts to thwart a Pittsford development end with court ruling

The legal battle over the Westport Crossing development in the Village of Pittsford may finally be over.

There have been numerous political, administrative and legal attempts by village leaders to thwart the development plans of the Westport Crossing Residential Community.

However, as of Sept. 12, Pittsford leaders are now being ordered by the state Supreme Court to issue a Certificate of Approval to Pittsford Canalside Properties LLC, owned by the DiMarzo family. The DiMarzo family operates Mark IV Enterprises. 

This order will allow the developers to move forward with their plans in creating a high-end residential development along the Erie Canal at 75 Monroe Ave. 

The initial application, which started over 10 years ago, proposed 167 upscale apartment units with public docking amenities and a canalside restaurant/bar.
