ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — A mom on a mission is working to help other parents-to-be get the answers she didn’t have.
In 2012, Monica Infante thought she was completely ready for the birth of her first child. Overcoming unexpected challenges, she realized she wasn’t prepared.
“The struggles I had were avoidable. There are so many local resources. It was frustrating to find out about these resources after the fact,” explained Infante.
In speaking with other moms, she realized her experience wasn’t unique.
So, Babies & Bumps was born as a way to connect new and soon-to-be parents with local resources.
“This event is to help people navigate this important chapter of their life, so they have a birth of their design, they feel more supported during the post-partum period, feel less lonely,” explained Infante, saying its one day where the birth and baby community can come together in Rochester.
Her work started in a room in her home and has grown to include a team in an office, with events now being held in five different cities.
The yearly events kick off in Rochester this Saturday at the DoubleTree from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. It will include how-to demonstrations and classroom style seminars.
