Beechwood neighborhood residents are giving an intersection in their area an extreme makeover.

The street scape at Parsells Avenue and Greeley Street in Rochester was transformed Saturday.

Members of the Beechwood Neighborhood Coalition realigned curbs, made the crosswalks colorful, and painted a large mural in the center of the intersection.

Organizer say this is a part of making this once intimidating intersection safer for everyone inducing pedestrians, cyclists and drivers.

"We really wanted to push it and make our mark, in the neighborhood and in the city, because for a lot of neighborhood associations, all across the city, speeding cars on residential streets is a major issue," said Joe Di Fiore of the Beechwood Neighborhood Coalition.

The complete streets makeover project is a part of a pilot initiative to create ways to test street enhancements that could make neighborhoods roads more welcoming for non-vehicular traffic.
