A billboard in Webster has a lot of you asking, "who is Pete?"
The billboard on Ridge Road is dedicated to a local business owner and family man, Pete Wilbert. He died earlier this year and his loved ones wanted to remember him in a positive way.
The bright billboard has a picture of a man holding a turtle with the words, "Thanks for the laughs, Pete."
Kevin Wilbert, Pete's son, says his father owned Wilbert's Premium Auto Parts, with locations in Monroe and Wayne counties, but he was best known for his heart.
"He was the type of person to be known," Kevin said. "He was active in church, he worked at the Knights of Columbus."
Kevin said his dad's infectious personality captivated many people across the area.
"He was just the type of person to always be happy and always make other people laugh," Kevin said. "He always took the time to listen."
Pete would have turned 70 on Oct. 11 and his friend of more than 40 years, Tom Becker, planned for this surprise billboard as a sort of prank.
"He got me really good about two years ago so I was trying to get even with him so he would have walked out his door and seen that," Becker said.
The billboard was in the works for a year, but Pete died Sept. 17 from congestive heart failure. Becker turned the celebration into a memorial.
"The rest of my life I'm going to miss him...I learned a lot from him," Becker said.
Pete's loved ones are sharing his story hoping that you learn to love and laugh as much as Pete did.
"I think that the best thing the billboard could do is be a good tribute to him and remind us all to be a little more like dad," Kevin said. "For those who knew him, just smile, be positive, laugh and don't sweat the small stuff."
The billboard is scheduled to be up through the end of the week, but his loved ones say the memories they have with Pete will last a lifetime.
