Zoo staff wrote that they intended for Blue to live with the rhino. The animals were introduced last week, and there was a fight between the rhino and the ostrich. The bird died from her injuries in the fight.

The Facebook post stated that ostriches and rhinos live together in their natural range in Africa, and in zoos across the country. The animals do not have a predatory relationship according to the zoo.
