The road to the Olympics continued for American athletes with the Bobsled World Cup.
Olympic dreams are really becoming a reality. Thursday was the first Bobsled World Cup of the season and some Americans landed on the podium.
Thursday, Elana Meyers-Taylor and Lauren Gibbs were the fastest American team on the track. In fact, their sled set the track record for fastest start in their first run of the day. Their next run was just 1/100th of a second slower to send them to a second place finish and that positions Elana for a great shot at her third Olympic Games.
"We needed the starts because I made a few mistakes down the track, so anytime you have a start like that you have a little more room to make mistakes," says Elana Meyers-Taylor. "It's early season I'm very happy where we are at the start, just need to clean some things up down the track."
"You know, at 33-years-old, I never thought that going to the Olympics in a winter sport was possible, so I'm literally living a dream on a daily basis. It's incredible to represent team USA," adds Gibbs.
Thursday was a very strong showing from American women. All three of their sleds placed in the top ten.
