Brighton superintendent promises diversity improvement after racist allegations

Brighton's school superintendent sent a letter to parents Friday about efforts to improve diversity.

At a recent Brighton Town Board meeting, a student accused the school district of racist attitudes.

Superintendent Kevin McGowan says that no one should experience discrimination or a lack of equality.

He wrote that the district will re-evaluate recruitment to diversify staff next year.

McGowan added that outside experts, and input from parents and students, will be welcomed during the program.
