BROCKPORT, N.Y. (WHEC) -- The Brockport Police Department has been gifted body armor, but not for them-- it's for their hard-working K9.
Thanks to a donation from the Vested Interest in K9s, Inc., K9 Brock will now have a bullet and stab protective vest.
The non-profit's mission is to provide protective vests as well as other assistance to dogs of law enforcement and related agencies.
The program is open to dogs actively employed in the U.S. and at least 20 months of age.
The program is also open to new K9 graduates as well as K9s with expired vests.
So far, they have already provided over 3,300 vests across the country costing roughly $5.7 million.
K9 Brock's vest was sponsored by Mike and Peggy Thielen of Waterford, MI. The sentiment "In honor of Sargent Thielen 2005-2018" is embroidered on it.
