BROCKPORT, N.Y. (WHEC) — Brockport Central School District’s Superintendent is leaving the district after seven years on the job for a position with the State Education Department.

Lesli Myers-Small, Ed.D. will serve as Assistant Commissioner of School Reform and Innovation, where she’ll support and oversee the turnaround of low-achieving schools across the state.

"I’ll have the opportunity to suggest programs and best practices that will now impact the entire state of New York and you know I have to catch myself and think about that: 'Now, this is statewide impact so I take that really seriously and take that to heart the important work that is set before me,'" Myers-Small said.

Myers-Small is scheduled to leave her post in January. Brockport’s school board members plan to appoint an interim superintendent.
