CANISIUS, N.Y. (WHEC) — Major cuts are coming to a college in our area.
Canisius College faces a $20 million deficit for the upcoming school year.
College President John Hurley says the Board of Trustees asked the college to make more than $12 million in cuts. This will include laying off 25 faculty and 71 staff members, salary cuts for employees making more than $65,000 and getting rid of nine majors at the college.
Hurley says pandemic aside, changes had to be made, but COVID-19 accelerated the process.
