PENFIELD, N.Y. (WHEC) — The Monroe County Sheriffs Office responded to a car crash on Saturday afternoon in Penfield.

Deputies tell News10NBC a 2003 Chevrolet van went of State Road near Alpine Drive and hit a utility pole around noon. The pole was knocked down and live power lines were on the street.

State Road was closed while RG&E cleaned up the wires. Power has been restored and the road is now back open to traffic.

Deputies say that the driver of the vehicle fell asleep. The passenger of the vehicle was transported to an area hospital with minor injuries.

The driver of the vehicle was uninjured and ticketed with failure to maintain lane and other violations.
