An Ontario County man is facing charges after investigators say he was high on drugs when he crashed his car into a tree trying to get away from deputies.

Deputies tell News10NBC they tried to pull over 53-year-old Everett Zuhlsdorf on Cork Road in Victor around 12:30 a.m. Tuesday.

Investigators say he turned his car lights off and on to avoid deputies. After he got into his driveway on Dryer Road, deputies say he turned his lights off again, missed a turn, and hit the tree.

Zuhlsdorf and passenger William Guest were taken to the hospital and later released. A second passenger, Thomas Earle, was treated at the scene.

Zuhlsdorf is charged with DWI by drugs, aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, unlawful fleeing a police officer, two counts of criminal possession of controlled substance in the seventh degree, and unlawful possession of marijuana.

Earle and Guest are also facing drug charges.
