The Monroe County Sheriff's Office released the cause of death Wednesday for the Penfield homicide victim.
According to the Monroe County Medical Examiner, 51-year-old Wendy Ford died of strangulation. She also suffered blunt force trauma injuries to her head.
Wendy Ford was found dead in her Collingsworth Drive home in Penfield on Oct. 31.
Following her death, investigators went to Riga where they found 76-year-old Florence Ford unresponsive in her Leibeck Road home. Investigators say Florence also suffered serious physical injury wounds to her head and remains in guarded condition at Strong Hospital.
Fifty-two-year-old Arnold Ford Jr. is believed to be responsible for both the homicide and attempted homicide. He was found dead in Erie, Pennsylvania from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Investigators believe the murder victim was Ford Jr.'s wife and that Florence was his mother.
Police say Arnold Jr. used a hammer on both his victims but used a .40 caliber gun, legally owned and registered to his wife, on himself.
