(NBCNC) — More cases of rare blood clots following the use of Johnson & Johnson's coronavirus vaccine have been reported.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), there have now been at least 28 cases reported out of more than 8.73 million doses administered in the U.S.

Among those, 22 were women and six were men, and most occurred in those between the ages of 30 and 49.

All of the cases so far have been in people vaccinated before the Food and Drug Administration and CDC paused use of the vaccine on April 13. The pause was lifted on April 23.

The CDC says three people have died and four were still hospitalized as of Wednesday.
