BUFFALO, N.Y. (WHEC) — The man accused of kidnapping a Buffalo-area teenager is now facing federal charges of enticement of a minor and production of child sexual abuse.

Michael Mesko, 50, of Cheektowaga, was arrested on Tuesday, Feb. 16 after an Amber Alert was issued for a 17-year-old, when Pennsylvania State Troopers pulled Mesko and the girl over for a felony stop in Venango County.

Prosecutors say on Feb. 4, before the Amber Alert, Mesko was arrested by the North Tonawanda Police Department after investigators say they discovered he was sexually abusing the girl, was receiving child porn and enticed her. Investigators say they discovered conversations through various social media apps on Mesko's iPad with the victim dating back to Oct. 8, 2020.

If found guilty, Mesko faces a minimum of 15 years in prison and a maximum of life in prison.

At the time of his arrest, North Tonawanda Police said state charges were pending.
