ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) -- A primary will decide who will receive the Independence Party line designation in November's Monroe County executive race.

The Monroe County Independence Party backed incumbent Cheryl Dinolfo while the state Independence Party supported challenger Adam Bello.

The case headed to court where a state Supreme Court justice ruled the Independence Party line in November will be decided by voters in a June primary.

A spokesperson for Dinolfo, Bridget Harvey, left the following statemen Thursday:

"We're grateful the Court blocked Adam Bello's attempt to steal the local Independence Party's endorsement from County Executive Cheryl Dinolfo. However, the fact remains that Adam hired an Albany law firm with ties to Governor Cuomo and disgraced felon Joe Percoco to bully his way onto the Independence line in the first place. Even Independence Party founder Tom Golisano said Adam's backroom Albany deal was just wrong. Our campaign may appeal in order to stop Adam's crooked plan once and for all."

A spokesperson for Bello released the following statement below:

"We are pleased that Judge Ark has recognized that Adam Bello has a place on the ballot for the Independence Party, despite every effort by Cheryl Dinolfo's campaign to deny it. Adam Bello believes the old way of doing business in Monroe County needs to change. This has been going on for too long. Local Republicans gave a bunch of taxpayer-funded contracts to the head of the local Independence Party, and he turned around and tried to give her the Independence Party endorsement. It's the same game the politicians have been playing in Monroe County for years, and someone's finally called them on it. Ms. Dinolfo can try and defend the old way of doing business all she wants, but Adam Bello says we need to change."
