ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — This year’s “Chocolate Ball” has been canceled over fears of the omicron variant and a month-long fundraising effort will go on in its place.

The annual ball raises money for ‘Empowering People’s Independence’ (EPI) epilepsy services.

It makes respite programs, teen weekends, education and a camp week possible.

EPI is selling $50 Chocolate Ball to Go packages that include a Lotus Bowl from Encore Chocolates and a demi-bottle of champagne just in time for Valentine’s Day.

The organization is looking to raise $100,000 to fund programs that will support more than 7,000 children and adults in Central and Western New York.

Orders can be placed online until midnight on Feb. 11. Packages can be picked up on Feb. 11 and 12 at EPI offices.
