McMurray said he got angry watching Collins deny any wrongdoing while also vowing to win in the fall.

"I saw Mr. Collins brag about trying to help MS [multiple sclerosis] victims when we l know he didn't talk about that when he was in D.C.," McMurray said Thursday. "He bragged about making fellow congressmen millionaires. He bragged about deleting his emails three times a day. These are things he said. He didn't brag about trying to help victims of vicious diseases. He talked about helping his family and how that his purpose in life was to help his family and that he was just trying do the right thing."

"The same algorithm that told them [he Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee] that Hillary Clinton was going to win in a landslide told them that we didn't have a chance," McMurray told News10NBC Investigate Reporter Jennifer Lewke. "We always had a chance, now its added kerosene to the fire and we're going to win this."

Collins pleaded not guilty on Wednesday and is out of jail on half a million dollars bail. The charges center around Collins position as a board member of an Australian biotechnology company. He is accused of feeding insider information to his son and the father of his son's fiance.

Collins has vowed to fight the charges and win re-election.

"The charges levied against me are meritless, and I will mount a vigorous defense in court to clear my name," Collins said. "I look forward to being fully vindicated and exonerated."

Reform Party candidate and Pembroke businessman Larry Piezga is also running for New York's 27th Congressional District.
