State Police: Churchville man drowns in Adirondacks

A Churchville man drowned in the Adirondacks Saturday afternoon while vacationing with his family. 

State Police responded to North Point Road in the area of Buttermilk Falls in Long Lake for a report of a drowning around 3 p.m. First responders were unable to revive 43-year-old Scott Karlnoski.

Investigators say Karlnoski was seen jumping into the pool base at the side of the falls then swimming closer to the plunge pool. He then disappeared and was found unconscious about five minutes later in a shallow rapids area.

An autopsy is pending.
