PARMA, N.Y. (WHEC) — A Rochester music teacher is charged with production of child pornography.
Philip Close was arrested and charged with second degree unlawful surveillance on Monday after a camera was found in a bathroom at the Close School of Music.
On Tuesday, a U.S. Attorney announced Close was charges with production of child pornography. The charges carry a minimum penalty of 15 years in prison, a maximum of 30 years and a $250,000 fine.
The investigation stems from a Dec. 5 complaint to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office from a mother, who found a video camera attached to a toilet.
On Dec. 6, a search warrant was executed, and several devices were seized from the music school, including a laptop.
In a preliminary review, the sheriff’s office found three videos of the same minor taken from the bathroom, and during a lesson. The sheriff's office reported one of the videos depicts Close touching a child during a lesson.
Close is due back in court on Dec. 17, 2019.
