Windstorm impact: Power outages, travel advisories

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) - County officials issued travel advisories and announced closures due to the windstorm impacting western New York.

EMERGENCY SHELTERS

The David F. Gantt R-Center, located at 700 North St. in Rochester, is open as a warming center and temporary warming shelter for those impacted by the windstorm. City officials said it will remain open as long as it is needed.

The Greece Public Library Main Branch at the Greece Town Hall Campus, located on Vince Tofany Blvd., opened at noon Sunday to serve as a warming center for anyone without power. Greece Town Supervisor Bill Reilich said the Town of Greece Community and Senior Center will also open if necessary.

TRAVEL ADVISORIES

Travel advisories for Monroe and Yates counties were lifted Monday morning.

Travel advisories are still in place for Livingston and Orleans counties.

Travel is not restricted, but drivers are urged to use caution.

THRUWAY

The ban on empty tractor-trailers and tandems was lifted Monday afternoon for I-390, I-490, and I-590.

The ban remains in effect from Exit 31 in Utica to Exit 45. 

FLIGHT DELAYS AND CANCELLATIONS

Some flights in and out of the Greater Rochester International Airport have been canceled Monday morning.

SENECA PARK ZOO, MONROE COUNTY PARKS, CEMETERIES

The Seneca Park Zoo, Mt. Hope Cemetery, and Riverside Cemetery were closed Sunday. 

All Monroe County parks and parks facilities were also closed Sunday. Public notice will be provided when the parks return to normal operation.

CITY GARBAGE, RECYCLE PICKUP

The City of Rochester is delaying garbage and recycling collection by one day next week.
