ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — The community has the chance to weigh in on a change that's stirred up some controversy.
For the first time last week, a Rochester fire station went dark from 6 p.m. Monday until 8 a.m. Tuesday as city officials rolled out its dynamic staffing initiative to reduce in overtime costs.
The plan is only implemented during those hours on nights and weekends when a firefighter calls in sick. Any calls received during that time, will be covered by the next closest engine.
A community input meeting is being held Monday from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Lyell Branch Library.
