PENFIELD, N.Y. (WHEC) — Construction began on a $29 million affordable housing development for seniors on Thursday.
Governor Cuomo’s office said once it’s complete, Penfield Square will offer 114 affordable apartments and 45 apartments set aside for older adults in need of supportive care in order to live independently.
The four-story building will also include a community room, fitness center with accessible equipment, laundry facilities on each floor and a green space for community events.
Penfield Square is being built on Nine Mile Point Road, next to the Eastside YMCA.
