A major traffic alert for those who travel through downtown Rochester during the week.
Portions of South Clinton Avenue and East Broad Street will be made in to two-way traffic streets.
Construction on the roadways at South Clinton Avenue from I-490 to East Main Street and East Broad Street from South Clinton Avenue to South Avenue will start on Thursday.
Drivers are being advised to follow the traffic signals in the area because traffic will be closed down and delays will be experienced.
"We're making changes that were probably long overdue. We're making it so easy for people to get around that, this 2 way conversion phase 2, that you're not going to need a garment or GPS to get around," Rochester Commissioner of Environmental Services, Norman Jones explained. "This is going to make it so much more user friendly for people who are coming downtown to work and for people who have never been to our city downtown, they'll be able to get around with being a maze."
Once the project is done, East Broad Street will be open to two-way traffic between South Avenue and South Clinton Avenue.
South Clinton Avenue will be open to two-way traffic between East Main Street and East Broad Street and South Clinton Avenue will remain one-way from I-490 to East Broad Street.
