JUNIUS, N.Y. (WHEC) - One child is dead and two others sustained serious injuries after a two vehicle crash on State Route 318 and Burgess Road late Saturday afternoon.

New York State Police say a westbound minivan on State Route 318 was slowing down to make a left turn onto Burgess Road when a flatbed truck slammed into it from behind.

A 26-year-old woman was driving the minivan with her three children.

The woman and her six-year-old daughter were transported to Geneva Hospital where the daughter was pronounced dead. The woman was treated for non-life threatening injuries.

The two other passengers in the minivan, the woman's 11-month-old daughter and three-year-old daughter, were airlifted to Strong Memorial Hospital and treated for serious injuries.

The operator of the flatbed truck was not injured.

The Junius Volunteer Fire Department assisted state police in the rescue and recovery of the crash victims.

Police continue to investigate and are withholding the names of all involved until proper notification.
