Two crashes caused traffic backups late Tuesday night in Rochester.
Around 9:30 p.m., Rochester Police responded to a two-car crash on Lakeshore Boulevard on the Rochester-Irondequoit line.
Police said a 24-year-old driver from Kent traveled east on Lakeshore when he crashed into another driver, 26, head-on. Both drivers became trapped in their cars. Firefighters freed them. Both drivers are expected to survive. The cause of the crash continues.
A little under two hours later, Rochester Police said 53-year-old Benita Zanders of Greece crashed into a bridge abutment on West Broad Street. She was later charges with felony DWI due to a previous conviction. She suffered minor injuries. The bridge abutment was not damaged.
