HAMLIN, N.Y. (WHEC) — The Hamlin Morton Walker Fire Department responded to a two-alarm house fire on Railroad Avenue around 1 p.m. on Saturday.

Upon arrival, firefighters reported heavy smoke and fire coming out of the first-floor living room and back of the house. The fire had also spread to the second floor and attic space. 


Firefighters were able to get residents out of the house but were alerted that one person may still be in the house. Additional rescue teams searched the building but it was found that the person was able to get out of the house safely.

Hamlin Morton Walker Fire District was assisted by the Brockport, Spencerport, Hilton, Kendall, and Holley Fire Departments.

Fire officials say the department was able to get the fire was under control in about 20 minutes. 

Fire officials deemed the home unlivable after the blaze. The Red Cross will be assisting two residents with temporary housing.
