ALBANY, N.Y. (WHEC) — The Cuomo administration has delayed the release of nursing home data for at least two more months.
According to the Empire Center, an independent watchdog group, that data won't come until at least March 22. In a letter to the group, the New York State Department of Health claims it needs more time because the data is still being reviewed.
As of Monday, the state is reporting more than 8,200 hundred nursing home deaths, though many believe that number is much higher.
The administration has repeatedly refused to release that data until they can confirm the numbers are right. State Attorney General Letitia James previously said it was not illegal for the state to delay releasing the data.
