ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — Former governor Andrew Cuomo’s lawyer is preparing for more legal action over Cuomo’s controversial book.

James McGuire issued a "preservation of records" request to the Joint Commission on Public Ethics (JCOPE).

That means the commission will need to keep all documents relating to its attempts to revoke its permission and seize proceeds from Cuomo’s book "American Crisis: Leadership Lessons from the Pandemic."

The state’s law department has blocked the attempt to confiscate the money made from the book.

Cuomo is accused of having staff members work on the book while on the clock when he was governor.
