ALBANY, N.Y. (WHEC) - There could soon be more help for younger parents to help them balance school and family life -- for free.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo has proposed a pilot program that would offer free childcare to up to 400 single parents pursuing their college degrees at certain community colleges.

Students could receive free on-site childcare at participating SUNY and CUNY schools.

The plan also includes support services for single parents including tutoring, career counseling, and help to transition into a four-year school if they want to continue their higher education.
