ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC)— Governor Cuomo will once again push to legalize recreational marijuana in his state budget.
Cuomo says the proposal will be part of his upcoming State of the State agenda, it calls for the creation of a new office of cannabis management that would oversee recreational use, as well as existing medical use.
The governor also pushed the legislation in 2019 and 2020 but came up short.
Additionally, Cuomo will also include mobile sports betting in his state budget proposal, something he initially pushed back on. This comes as the state is looking to close a nearly $15-billion dollar budget gap as legislators returned to work Wednesday.
Cuomo is scheduled to deliver his State of the State address on Monday.
