(WHEC) — You no longer need to go to driving school to get a driver's license in New York State.
Governor Andrew Cuomo signed a bill on Monday to allows applicants to take the mandatory five-hour course online to get their license. The previous law did not allow drivers to take only online classes to qualify for a license.
Drivers under 18 will still need at least 50 hours of supervised driving practice to get their license.
The law will take effect in June.
