Cuomo signs legislation expanding infant safety measures

ALBANY, N.Y. (WHEC) — Certain crib bumper pads will soon be banned in New York.

The change is part of three new safety measures Gov. Andrew Cuomo signed Tuesday.

It outlaws the sale of bumper pads not made out of mesh. Another measure requires childcare centers to anchor heavy furniture so pieces can't fall over.

The last rule requires stores to sell devices to keep baby furniture from tipping.

All three measures will take effect by February.
