ALBANY, N.Y. (WHEC) — In the last 24 hours, 73 New Yorkers died from COVID-19, marking the state's lowest daily death toll since March, Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced Tuesday.

Cuomo also announced Long Island will begin reopening Wednesday. New York City is the only region that has not started reopening.

The governor says the state will focus on areas of infection and increase the number of contact tracers in New York City so the region can begin phase one.

Cuomo also says he will travel to Washington, D.C. Wednesday to meet with President Donald Trump and discuss reopening the economy and bringing more people back to work.
