ATLANTA (WHEC) — The Centers for Disease Control and prevention is racing to find the source of a deadly listeria outbreak linked to deli-sliced meats and cheeses.
So far, one person has died in Michigan, and eight people have been hospitalized in New York, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey, according to the CDC.
Officials say the bacteria has been found in meat sliced at multiple delis.
At this time, the CDC is advising retailers to frequently clean and sanitize slicers and other areas where deli products are prepared, stored, and served.
