Nate McMurray is one of two candidates on the ballot for the 27th Congressional District and currently serves as the Grand Island Town Supervisor.
The 27th Congressional District area has been largely red for a while but McMurray says he’s working hard to turn it blue.
The Democrat hoping to beat out the Republicans pick is holding a rally in Ontario County meeting with supporters in Farmington at the Mertensia Park Lodge Tuesday night at 6 p.m.
He's hoping to gain momentum in the 27th district after the arrest of Congressman Collins.
McMurray says his focus in D.C. would be a better and more affordable healthcare system for all people.
Mcmurray also says he plans to focus on fighting for farmers here in western New York.
Right now McMurray is the only big party name on the ballot, but it is likely the GOP will soon appoint someone to take Collins’ spot.
Reform Party candidate and Pembroke businessman Larry Piezga is also running for New York's 27th Congressional District.
