Demolition for Whole Foods approved by Brighton Planning Board

The controversial Whole Foods project in Brighton is one step closer to becoming a reality.

The Brighton Town Planning Board has approved the demolition of the old Mario's Restaurant, Clover Lanes, and Mamasan's restaurant on Monroe Avenue to make way for the Whole Foods development project.

The board also approved the project's environmental quality review Wednesday night. 

Right now, there are lawsuits pending against the project.

No word on when the demolition of the buildings will begin.
