Deputies: Inmate charged with assault after biting deputy

GENESEO, N.Y. (WHEC) — An inmate in the Livingston County Jail is facing felony charges after he allegedly attacked a jail deputy.

Deputies say 49-year-old Algen Jackson, of Rochester, was causing injury to himself in his cell on May 11. After failing to comply with deputy orders, Jackson was removed from his cell to be restrained. During this process, Jackson is accused of biting a deputy's arm. The deputy was taken to the hospital for his injuries.

Jackson was charged with felony assault and obstructing governmental administration. He was in custody on the charge of felony aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle.

Jackson was arraigned and remains behind bars without bail.
