Deputy Sheriff Michael Phillips and DEC Officer entered the water and were able to throw a rescue rope to the trapped Ronald and Amanda and get them to shore.

The investigation revealed that while hiking Amanda lost her shoes in an area where the stream meets the river. While attempting to retrieve her shoes, the current pulled her into the river.

Ronald attempted to pull his daughter out but was also pulled in by the current and down the river until they were able to grab a tree limb and call 911 for help.

Both Ronald and Amanda were not injured by the incident.

In addition to the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office, the Leicester Fire Department, Cuylerville Fire Department, Geneseo Fire Department, Livingston County EMS, DEC Police, and the Park Police were on scene.
