PHELPS, N.Y. (WHEC) — A 21-year-old Rochester man has been charged with second-degree murder in connection to the shooting death of a man in Ontario County.

Ontario County Sheriff Kevin Henderson says 28-year old Jean Carlos Rentas-Figueroa was shot in the head. His body was found on the side of the Route 96 in Phelps on Aug. 13. by someone driving by. According to investigators, Rentas-Figueroa moved from Cleveland, Ohio to Rochester about two months ago.

Omar Antonio Martinez-Salome was arrested Wednesday. Another suspect in the homicide case is currently being held in jail on unrelated charges.

According to Henderson, the homicide was drug-related and the community was never in danger.

"Our agency is committed to fighting those who wish to sell drugs in this county, we are seeing too many other crimes and loss of life due to overdoses coming from the drug problem, and it is directly impacting Ontario County," he said.

Deputies are also still looking for his gray 2007 Acura TSX with blue and gold New York license plates that have the number JGF4990.

Henderson says more arrests are possible as the investigation continues. Anyone with information is asked to call 911.

Salome is being held in the Ontario County Jail without bail.
