Deputies: Wolcott woman uses food stamps belonging to a dead person

WOLCOTT, N.Y. (WHEC) -- A Wayne County woman was arrested after deputies say she used SNAP benefits that belong to a dead person.  

63-year-old Catherine Redding was taken into custody for misuse of food stamps and petit larceny, following an investigation by the Wayne County Department of Social Services and Welfare Fraud Investigation Unit.

Investigators say she used someone else's food stamps after that person was hospitalized on October 25th 2018. Redding continued to use that individual’s EBT card after they passed away on November 8th, 2018

Deputies say she spent more than $350 worth of SNAP benefits that she was not entitled to. 

She's was released on an appearance ticket.
